If you forgot your password, follow the steps below to change it.Be sure to write your new password down so you dont forget it.

1. Tap theHometab SettingsAccount.2. TapPassword.Note:If youre asked to unlock the screen, use the unlock method you have configured on your device, such as your passcode, PIN code, or biometric identification (e.g. fingerprint, face). Do not use the password registered to your LINE account.3. Enter your new password twice, then tapChange password.

If youre viewing this article on your smartphone, taphereto go to the Account screen.

If you cant remember your password and dont have access to your old device when transferring your LINE account, seethis Help article.

To register an email address:1.Go to theHometab SettingsAccountEmail address.2. Enter an email address, then tapNext.3. Enter the verification code or tap the URL in the email that was sent to you.

Taphereto open the Account screen from your smartphone.

When logging in to LINE with your smartphones unlock method for the first time:1. Start LINE for iPad or LINE for PC.2. Enter the phone number registered to your LINE account and selectLog in with smartphone.3. SelectShow verification code.4. Start the smartphone version of LINE.5. Select theHometab SettingsAccountPair a new device.6. Enter the six-digit verification code that appears on LINE for iPad or LINE for PC into your smartphone.7. Use your smartphones unlock method when prompted to do so.

When logging in after the first time:1. Start LINE for iPad or LINE for PC.2. Enter the phone number registered to your LINE account and selectLog in with smartphone.3. Start the smartphone version of LINE.4. Use your smartphones unlock method when prompted to do so.

Login successful! will appear when youre logged in. The LINE official account will also send a login notification message to you in the smartphone version of LINE.Note:For details about the content of this notification, seethis Help article.

To use LINE for PC, you need to register an email address on the smartphone version of LINE. Seethis Help articlefor the steps to register an email address.

After registering an email address, download LINE for PChere.

Once youve downloaded LINE for PC, try logging in using the email address and password you registered on the smartphone version of LINE.

- This message cant be decrypted- This message wasnt backed up and restored from your previous device. Unfortunately, theres no way to read it on your current device.- Unable to display message as it couldnt be decrypted.

If any of these messages appear and you cannot view your past chat messages, there is unfortunately no way to re-display them. In this case, please ask the other person in the chat to send you any old messages that you need.

The messages above appear when:• You transfer your account to a device with the same OS (e.g. iOS to iOS) without backing up and restoring your chat messages.Note:To view old chat messages on a new device, you need toback them up in advance and restore them.⋅You transfer your account to a device with a different OS (e.g. iOS to Android).Note:If you transfer your account to a device with a different OS, you cannot transfer your past chat messages.⋅You receive chat messages while transferring your account.Note:Any chat messages you receive while transferring your account cannot be transferred to your new device.

Landline phone numbers, numbers that start with 050, and virtual phone numbers cannot be used for verification, so be sure to use a phone number offered by a mobile service provider.Note:If you verify a phone number that is already registered to another LINE account, the old account will be deleted.

If your phone number can be verified but youre still not receiving the verification code text message, try selectingResend codeorCall me instead.Note:For more information about the Call me instead option, seethis Help article.

Letter Sealing is a feature that provides end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for chat messages. E2EE is a communication system designed so that messages saved on our servers are encrypted and cannot be read by anyone except the sender and receiver of the message.

Once the sender and receiver have both turned on Letter Sealing, they will be able to start sending messages with added security.

• Text messages (not including messages sent through other services like YouTube)• Location information• 1-on-1 voice/video callsNote:We plan to expand Letter Sealings functionality in the future.

If you use LINE for PC after turning on Letter Sealing, youll be required to verify your identity the first time you send a message.

To use the Call me instead option:1. TapCall me insteadat the bottom of the verification code input screen.2. TapOK.3. After receiving the automated phone call, enter the verification code you were given.Note:The call may be from an overseas phone number.

These verification codes are sent out using a system designated by LINE. The phone number used may appear as either a domestic or overseas number.

If you requested the verification code:Please proceed with the verification process using the code that was sent to you.

If you received a verification code but didnt request one:Its possible someone entered your phone number by mistake. In this case, please disregard the text message or phone call.Important: Even if you did not request a verification code, be sure to never share this code with anyone.
